Story

The Collins Business Group started in 1987 with a single quick lube auto shop location in Somersworth, NH. With a degree in Civil Engineering and experience in engineering and construction, the automotive repair business was a completely new endeavor for founder Bill Stowell. He started with a dream of providing for his family and growing as an entrepreneur. Bill used his education, experience, and contacts to acquire and operate six franchise locations, while also designing and constructing over a dozen facilities throughout the New England region. The businesses became established names in the communities for providing quality services backed by trustworthy people. 

This approach built a solid foundation for creating an impactful and flourishing business. In 2003, the group acquired a five bay full-service repair shop adjacent to the quick lube shop in Somersworth. This expanded the horizons and possibilities for the company.

The shops grew in volume while maintaining the principles and vision on which the company was built. In 2017, Bill sold an interest in the company to his son, Bill, Jr.

With a fresh outlook, fresh energy, and new ideas, Bill, Jr. was able to continue the trajectory of the business, providing a positive impact on the community and consistently raising the bar in terms of customer volume and satisfaction.

Under Bill Jr’s leadership, the company has developed a proven track record of building skilled teams, establishing a good working environment, using cutting edge technology, and satisfying a growing customer base.

The company now owns and operates four individual shops, employing 35+ people, with projected annual revenue of $7 million. The future of the company includes a focus on the acquisition of successful small businesses that can grow through a fresh approach and by applying the skillsets of the next generation of entrepreneurs.
